RIYADH, KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA, 16 JULY 2019 - King Abdulaziz Medical City – Riyadh under the Ministry of National Guard-Health Affairs (MNGHA) was formally validated at Stage 7 on the HIMSS Analytics O-EMRAM international maturity model. The validation recognizes healthcare organisations that have improved patient safety and the overall quality of clinical care by using advanced information technologies and electronic medical record systems.
His Excellency, Dr. Bandar Al Knawy, Chief Executive Officer of MNGHA mentioned that “Improving the quality of care and patient safety is among the key strategic objectives of MNGHA. Highly mature health IT technologies assist the organisation in the process of reaching those objectives.”
Professor Mohamed Al Moamary, Executive Director, Medical Services added that “Our outpatient services have been greatly enhanced by implementing a highly mature electronic medical record system. We are now able to effectively promote clinical and patient engagement as well as patient education through the patient portal and other health IT technologies.”
Dr Raed Al Hazme, Chief Information Officer at MNGHA commented that “O-EMRAM encapsulates several best practices that vastly help in the highly mature implementation of health IT technologies in the organisation. By following O-EMRAM guidelines, we were able to increase the maturity of our EMR system and the ancillary IT systems in our environment .”
John Rayner, Regional Director EMEA, HIMSS Analytics, said “It is important for patients who do not require a visit to the hospital to be able to receive care in an ambulatory setting or in their own home. MNGHA has developed a mobile application for conducting clinic visits virtually, through a secure and encrypted connection. Selecting the appropriate health care setting is important if we are to promote patient involvement and co-creation.”
